The 2nd day of the Meath Cross Country Championships brought hundreds of Meath athletes over to Stamullen and out vying to become a county champion or win a place on the County teams for the Leinsters which will be held at Adamstown in County Wexford on the 12th November for these age groups.
The emphasis was certainly on team effort on a tough course as our boys under 11 squad took team bronze on 56 points.
Grace Summerville in silver and Joy Osas in bronze led our girls under 11 team to a fine team victory. The boys under 13 squad also had a fine team win on 38pts with Jack Smith taking silver and Ryan Robinson winning bronze. The girls under 13 team battled well for 5th place on 94 points in the most competitive race of the day,
The masters were also out in force with Linda Fahy retaining her O/45 title, Benny Byrne also won his over 55 title, Derek Hunter became the top over 50 master and Terry Brady took silver in the Over 35 category. Terry, Derek and Benny combined with Dave McCann to win team bronze on 50 points.
