Ratoath 5k and Half Marathon – Fairyhouse Racecourse - Saturday 8th September 2018

The first Ratoath half marathon on Saturday morning turned out to an outstanding success with the entry limit of 900 sold out months ago.
On a perfect cool damp morning for running our big gang were led home by the 2018 Meath half marathon bronze medallist Terry Brady who clocked a time of 1.20.42
For 10th place overall while our ladies were led in by “Miss Consistency” Breda O’Connor in 1.34.23 which placed her 4th lady home some 3 minutes faster than she ran at the Meath championships 6 months ago and 8 minutes quicker than her Dublin half marathon effort almost a year ago.
There were some very fine runs from our 30 strong squad with Ian Forrestal 4 minutes faster than before, Keith Markey took 90 seconds off his time, Shane Clarke was 3 minutes faster than 6 months ago, while Rachel Anderson knocked 6 minutes off her time with Hubby Michael just managing a 3 minute pb.
Teresa Ennis recovers quickly as her time was 7 minutes quicker than her national half effort just 4 weeks ago while Eoin McElhinney knocked 4 minutes off his time from 6 months ago and Janice Conlon is moving 15 minutes faster than last March but the day was all about getting out and covering the distance which all the gang did, some for the first time ever and some in preparation for the full marathon in 7 weeks time.
The 5k which was ran in conjunction saw Keith Wickham place 4th overall in 19.11 with Eoghan O’Connor clocking 21.24 and Mark Connolly running 31.19.
