Day 1 of the Meath Cross Country Championships on Sunday brought a big crowd out to the hills of Ardbraccan in Bohermeen on a bitterly cold, windy day.
We had a big crowd out with four 4th team places in the juvenile races – and fine individual bronze for Ryan Robinson in the under 14 race over 2,500 metres and a team bronze as well thanks to the efforts of Daniel Walsh and Sean Summerville.
Many of our ladies took to Cross Country running for the first time ever in the Ladies Novice over 4,000 metres where they placed 4th with Zara loving every minute of it. The best performance of the day came from 16 year old Sean O’Connor in the combined under 18 Junior and Novice race over 6,000 metres where he finished 5th overall and 2nd under 18 in a high quality event and the mens team which Sean was too young to count on were 3rd.
Well done everyone – full results will be published shortly – The next Meath Championships are the uneven ages and Intermediates next Sunday 14th October on a pancake flat (honestly) course starting at 12 noon
